Shoulder pain can prevent you from living your life and doing the things you love. This type of pain can range from mild to severe and typically occurs from overuse. Chronic shoulder pain most commonly affects adolescent and adult athletes and people who work physical, repetitive jobs. At the office of Royal Chiropractic and Dental Centers, we effectively treat shoulder pain issues by identifying the cause and customizing therapies for each patient in order for them to live pain free and with restored range of motion.
Most shoulder problems fall into four major categories:
- Tendinitis: a tendon is a cord that connects muscle to bone. Most tendinitis is a result of inflammation due to a sudden injury or degenerative changes in the tendons. In some cases, a tendon tear will result.
- Instability: occurs when the head of the upper arm bone is forced out of the shoulder socket.
- Osteoarthritis arthritis: known as “wear and tear” arthritis, symptoms such as swelling, pain, and stiffness, typically begin during middle age. The condition develops slowly and pain worsens over time.
- Fracture: shoulder fractures commonly involve the collarbone, upper arm bone and the scapula, causing severe pain, swelling, and bruising about the shoulder.
Chiropractic care can be a great way to manage and relieve swelling and discomfort caused by shoulder pain. Chiropractors deliver a gentle, non-invasive, non-addictive therapy — known as “adjustments” —which reduce joint restrictions or misalignments in the spine and all joints in the body. The goal is to reduce pain, decrease inflammation and improve flexibility, muscle tone, and strength using the body’s own mechanics rather than drug therapies.
At the office of Royal Chiropractic and Dental Centers, we’re dedicated to providing the highest quality of skilled and compassionate chiropractic care. Based on the findings of your consultation and exam, we may co-treat your shoulder pain with other healthcare professionals including massage therapists, physical therapists or your primary care physician.
