Sciatica

One common example of back and leg pain that we see in the patients that visit Royal Chiropractic Clinic is sciatica. Sciatica refers to a specific set of symptoms that is often indicative of a larger problem in which the nerves are being affected and causing pain. Sciatica refers to symptoms such as numbness, pain and tingling in the lower back, buttocks, legs, feet or all of the above simultaneously. If you have sciatica, you might also notice that you are weaker in the parts of the body that are being affected, and you may find it hard to move or control those parts of the body as well.

It is important to recognize that sciatica refers to the symptoms you are feeling rather than its own condition. Sciatica occurs when there is a compression or irritation of either one of five spinal nerve roots that lead to the sciatic nerve. It can also occur if there has been compression or irritation of the right, left, or both sciatic nerves. We will work with you to reveal the underlying cause of your sciatica symptoms so that we can provide you with the safest and most beneficial treatment.

Similarly, patients who have nerve root compression or irritation in their neck or upper backs may experience numbing and tingling, and weakness in their arms and hands.
